Regarding This November

ANNOUNCEMENT: “BGAC Homecoming 2026” Will Not Take Place This November

This year, we reached a very important milestone in producing our tenth Broadway Goes A Cappella show, which brought us to reflect on the shows going back to the first on January 23rd, 2017.  Throughout the first decade of BGAC, the process, goals, and team have developed tremendously, though the spirit of the show has remained the same: to provide opportunities for the Broadway and A Cappella communities to connect onstage in NYC. Those very opportunities have only continued to grow in size and frequency, and for that, we feel immensely grateful to our shared communities and to one another. That said, we have to make a necessary adjustment to our season by not producing this year’s Homecoming show.

Since coming back in full force in 2024 producing 2-3 shows a year, we quickly realized we’d found a pattern of moving between producing a show (our “on season”) and developing the organization behind the scenes that effectively produces shows (our “off season”). Through iterating on this process, we’ve learned that doing both well requires dedicated time for each. Our shows have become more ambitious and polished, while the community around them has grown in kind. What began as a series of individual productions has increasingly become an organization through which people regularly collaborate, mentor one another, and express themselves creatively.

As we prepare for the next decade of Broadway Goes A Cappella, a few areas of focus stand out to best serve the shows as well as the organization behind them: sustainability, accountability, and being community-driven. These can be met by providing an adequate amount of time and care to each show we build, holding them at a level reflective of what our communities have to share with each other and the world around us. Our standards have risen, and our visibility has risen, so our process needs to rise with them as well.

With this in mind, the best step forward is to begin an extended off-season rather than maintain the production pace of the last three years. Rather than rush another show onto the calendar because November is when we have traditionally produced one, we’re choosing to give ourselves the time to build intentionally. That means no Homecoming this Fall and more room to strengthen BGAC’s systems, creative process, community involvement, and plans for 2027. We’ll be reviewing our organizational structure, strengthening our production processes, expanding community participation and leadership, developing our fundraising and financial sustainability, and strengthening our venue relationships and long-term season planning.

We hope you’ll join us as we take the coming months to build a Broadway Goes A Cappella ready to step proudly into its second decade and beyond. For those who have been with us since the beginning, none of what has happened (or what is to come) would have been possible without you. For those new to our community, we can’t wait to see you again very soon. For everyone, keep an eye on our blog and monthly newsletter for tangible updates on what we’re building and how the community can participate.

TTFN,

Charlie Arthur, Evan Feist, and Sam Strum
